Descripción
King David sits heavy upon his throne, one hand pressed to his chest as the prophet Nathan stands before him with an upraised hand of judgment. The palace drapery, carved throne, crown, and vessels at David’s feet place the moment inside the royal court, yet the focus is spiritual rather than ceremonial: a king confronted by the word of the Lord.
The scene reflects Nathan’s rebuke after David’s sin with Bathsheba and Uriah. David’s lowered face and inward gesture capture the beginning of repentance, when royal power gives way to conviction. In the biblical account, Nathan exposes hidden sin through prophetic truth, and David responds, “I have sinned against the Lord.” This artwork is suited for teaching on repentance, accountability, confession, leadership, and the mercy of God toward the contrite heart.
