1 Cuando el rey Salomón terminó la obra realizada en el templo del Señor, llevó allí todos los objetos que su padre David había consagrado: la plata, el oro y los utensilios, y los depositó en el tesoro del templo de Dios.2 Entonces Salomón convocó en Jerusalén a los ancianos de Israel, a todos los jefes de tribu y de familia de los israelitas para trasladar el arca de la alianza del Señor desde la ciudad de David, es decir, Sión.3 Todos los israelitas se reunieron en torno al rey Salomón el mes séptimo con motivo de la fiesta.4 Cuando llegaron los ancianos de Israel, los levitas cargaron con el arca,5 y la subieron junto con la tienda del encuentro y todos los utensilios sagrados que había en ella; la subieron los sacerdotes levitas.6 El rey Salomón y toda la asamblea de Israel con él, inmolaron ante el arca ovejas y toros en gran cantidad.7 Los sacerdotes dejaron el arca de la alianza del Señor en su lugar, en el camarín del templo, es decir en el lugar santísimo, bajo las alas de los querubines.8 Los querubines tenían las alas extendidas sobre el lugar donde se encontraba el arca, cubriendo el arca y sus varas.9 Estas eran tan largas que se podían ver sus puntas desde el lugar santo, que está frente al lugar santísimo, pero no desde fuera. Allí están hasta hoy.10 En el arca no había más que dos tablas de piedra, depositadas allí por Moisés en el Horeb, cuando el Señor hizo la alianza con los israelitas a su salida de Egipto.11 Cuando los sacerdotes salían del lugar santo (todos los sacerdotes presentes se habían purificado sin tener en cuenta los turnos correspondientes),12 todo el coro de levitas cantores –Asaf, Hemán y Yedutún con sus hijos y familiares–, vestidos con túnicas de lino, hacían sonar los címbalos, las arpas y las cítaras, puestos de pie en la parte oriental del altar.13 Entonces los trompeteros y cantores juntos se pusieron a alabar y celebrar al unísono al Señor. Y, cuando al son de las trompetas, címbalos y demás instrumentos musicales, alababan al Señor: «porque es bueno, porque es eterno su amor», una nube llenó el templo del Señor,14 de modo que los sacerdotes no podían oficiar a causa de la nube, porque la gloria del Señor llenaba el templo de Dios.
Ezekiel 3
1 And he said to me, “Son of man, eat whatever you find here. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.”2 So I opened my mouth, and he gave me this scroll to eat.3 And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey.4 And he said to me, “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with my words to them.5 For you are not sent to a people of foreign speech and a hard language, but to the house of Israel—6 not to many peoples of foreign speech and a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely, if I sent you to such, they would listen to you.7 But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart.8 Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces, and your forehead as hard as their foreheads.9 Like emery harder than flint have I made your forehead. Fear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.”10 Moreover, he said to me, “Son of man, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart, and hear with your ears.11 And go to the exiles, to your people, and speak to them and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD,’ whether they hear or refuse to hear.”12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me the voice of a great earthquake: “Blessed be the glory of the LORD from its place!”13 It was the sound of the wings of the living creatures as they touched one another, and the sound of the wheels beside them, and the sound of a great earthquake.14 The Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit, the hand of the LORD being strong upon me.15 And I came to the exiles at Tel-abib, who were dwelling by the Chebar canal, and I sat where they were dwelling. And I sat there overwhelmed among them seven days.16 And at the end of seven days, the word of the LORD came to me:17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me.18 If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.19 But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.20 Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand.21 But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”22 And the hand of the LORD was upon me there. And he said to me, “Arise, go out into the valley, and there I will speak with you.”23 So I arose and went out into the valley, and behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, like the glory that I had seen by the Chebar canal, and I fell on my face.24 But the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and he spoke with me and said to me, “Go, shut yourself within your house.25 And you, O son of man, behold, cords will be placed upon you, and you shall be bound with them, so that you cannot go out among the people.26 And I will make your tongue cling to the roof of your mouth, so that you shall be mute and unable to reprove them, for they are a rebellious house.27 But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD.’ He who will hear, let him hear; and he who will refuse to hear, let him refuse, for they are a rebellious house.
Ezra 3
1 El mes séptimo, instalados ya los israelitas en sus ciudades, el pueblo se reunió como un solo hombre en Jerusalén.2 Josué, hijo de Josadac, con sus hermanos sacerdotes, y Zorobabel, hijo de Sealtiel, con los suyos, reconstruyeron el altar del Dios de Israel para ofrecer en él holocaustos, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, el hombre de Dios.3 Lo levantaron en el mismo sitio, a pesar del temor a los pobladores del país, y ofrecieron en él holocaustos al Señor, los holocaustos de la mañana y de la tarde.4 Celebraron la fiesta de las tiendas, según lo prescrito, ofreciendo cada día el número de holocaustos ritualmente establecido.5 Después de esto, siguieron ofreciendo el holocausto perpetuo, los sacrificios de las fiestas de la luna nueva, los de todas las fiestas dedicadas al Señor y los de cualquiera que presentaba al Señor una ofrenda voluntaria.6 Comenzaron a ofrecer holocaustos al Señor desde el día primero del séptimo mes, sin haber puesto todavía los cimientos del santuario del Señor.7 Entonces dieron dinero a los canteros y a los carpinteros, y enviaron víveres, bebidas y aceite a los sidonios y a los tirios para que enviaran por mar, desde el Líbano hasta Jafa, madera de cedro, conforme a la autorización de Ciro, rey de Persia.8 Al año siguiente de su llegada al templo de Dios, que está en Jerusalén, en el segundo mes, Zorobabel, hijo de Sealtiel, Josué, hijo de Josadac, sus hermanos sacerdotes y levitas, y todos los que habían regresado a Jerusalén desde el destierro, comenzaron la obra. Confiaron a los levitas mayores de veinte años la dirección de quienes trabajaban en el templo de Dios.9 Josué, sus hijos y hermanos, junto con Cadmiel y sus hijos que eran descendientes de Hodavías, acudieron como un solo hombre para ponerse al frente de los obreros que trabajaban en el templo de Dios. También Jenadad con sus hijos y hermanos levitas.10 Tan pronto como los albañiles pusieron los cimientos del santuario del Señor, se presentaron los sacerdotes revestidos, con sus trompetas, y también los levitas descendientes de Asaf con sus címbalos, para alabar al Señor, según lo establecido por David rey de Israel.11 Cantaron el cántico de alabanza y acción de gracias al Señor: «porque es bueno, porque su misericordia es eterna sobre Israel». Todo el pueblo alababa jubilosamente al Señor porque se habían echado los cimientos del templo del Señor.12 Muchos de los sacerdotes, levitas y cabezas de familia, ya ancianos, que conservaban la imagen del primer templo, al ver ahora los cimientos de este otro, lloraban a lágrima viva, mientras los demás gritaban jubilosos.13 Era imposible distinguir las manifestaciones de júbilo de las manifestaciones de llanto de la gente, porque los gritos estrepitosos del pueblo se oían a mucha distancia.
